The Science Hub is a collaborative effort between UCLA and Amazon with the mission to address humanity’s pressing challenges by cross-pollinating academic and industry research that harnesses the power of artificial intelligence.  Since the hub's inception in 2021, the program has funded 34 research projects and 36 doctoral fellowships.  We welcome all UCLA faculty to take advantage of this great opportunity.  

CALL FOR RESEARCH PROPOSALS

Topics of Interest:

  • Foundations of AI and Machine Learning
  • Fairness, Explainability and Accountability in AI
  • AI for Robotics, Computer Vision, Speech and Natural Language Processing
  • AI in Medicine and Biology
  • AI in Business, Law, Humanities and Art.
  • AI in Automated Reasoning
  • Self-supervised learning/low resource tasks
  • Multimodal Generative Models
  • Responsible AI: large model alignment, security, privacy, attribution, copyright
  • AI in clinical and primary care settings
  • Trustworthy and responsible AI for healthcare
  • AI for clinical discovery
  • AI for autonomous research in health (knowledge development for prevention, diagnosis, and treatment)

Funding Amount:

Each proposed project is limited to a budget of $100,000 in direct costs.  Depending on the proposed scope of work and collaborators involved, projects may be selected for either gift funding or sponsored research funding.  

Eligibility:

This call is open to all current active UCLA faculty across all disciplines.
