Startup In A Box
UCLA Technology Development Group (TDG) is committed to fostering the success of UCLA startups by providing UCLA entrepreneurs with the tools they need to found and grow prosperous companies. Modeled after QB3’s program supporting UCB, UCSF, and UCSC, UCLA Startup in a Box (SIAB) was created to lower barriers for UCLA entrepreneurs, providing warm introductions to pre-vetted partners across a multitude of service areas.
Startup In A Box is available to UCLA faculty, staff, postdocs and graduate students, including those from the UCLA Anderson School of Management and the UCLA School of Law. Outside entrepreneurs licensing intellectual property from the University are also eligible to apply.

Early Growth Financial Services
Early Growth Financial Services offers low-cost, fixed price professional accounting services for early-stage companies through the JumpStart program. Beyond accounting services, they also provide access to a CFO, financial modeling and tax services.
Moss Adams can guide very early stage companies with complimentary consultations regarding accounting systems, payroll set-up, tax filings and planning for SBIR and other grants compliance. As your organization grows, they can also provide bookkeeping, financial reporting and tax services at fixed fees that are appropriate for the stage of your company at that time.
Startup in a Box offers connections to insurance providers who can help with a range of insurance needs. These firms can specifically help with the insurance requirements in your license agreements with TDG.
TriNet has engaged in a partnership with UCLA to provide Startup in a Box participants access to discounted rates to HR services. TriNet offers startups a range of services including medical and dental benefits, payroll processing and more.

UCLA Health Roundtable
UCLA Health’s mission is to deliver leading-edge patient care, research, and education. Our Vision is to heal humankind, one patient at a time, by improving health, alleviating suffering, and delivering acts of kindness. As part of our greater innovation effort to support cutting-edge technologies to reach the market place and have an impact of patient’s lives, UCLA Health is pleased to offer mentoring appointments to select UCLA affiliated start-ups on their most pressing questions to better help them navigate health system / academic medical centers. This process is through Startup in a Box, which will personalize a mentorship consult for the UCLA-affiliated start-up. Possible topics may include questions regarding collaboration, policy, coverage analysis, value analysis, IS, purchasing or others as needed.
UCLA Startup in a Box participants will be permitted to register for QB3’s SBIR / STTR Workshop for a $250 fee. This program includes working sessions and filing clinics, all of which can be accessed remotely via web conference.
If you have or are interested in obtaining Federal Funding for your small business, understanding and preparing your accounting for recordkeeping and reporting are imperative.
Realizing that every small business, SBIR awardee or not, generates a wealth of information, this event will help pre-award and awardees see beyond the numbers and shed light on useful data to provide guidance in making effective business decisions ranging from general strategy to development initiatives
