At UCLA Technology Development Group, we encourage research, innovation and entrepreneurship at UCLA as well as throughout the Los Angeles Ecosystem. We hope that this online series will prove informative and inspiring to all who want to take their ideas from concept to reality.

Academic institutions are continually striving to identify new and creative ways to structure sponsored research agreements with industry. You are invited to listen in on a conversation among three tech transfer offices as they share several of the unique solutions they have implemented, and are considering using in the year ahead, to help sponsored research deals successfully close with less time and effort.

ABOUT THE PI

Dr. Alireza Moshaverinia is a Diplomate of the American Board of Prosthodontics and a tenure track assistant professor at the UCLA School of Dentistry. Alireza has received his DDS degree in 2004 from Iran. He has a Master of Science degree in Dental Biomaterials (2009) from the Ohio State University, College of Dentistry.

Paul Krogstad, MD, presents his work to discover and develop small molecules with broad spectrum antiviral activity at the 2019 UCLA Innovation Fund Pitch Day.

Dr. Krogstad is a Professor with a joint appointment in the Departments of Pediatrics and Molecular and Pharmacology, and serves as the Fellowship Director for the Pediatric Infectious Diseases Fellowship Program. His collaborator, Michael Jung, PhD, is a Distinguished Professor in the Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry, and inventor of several successfully commercialized drugs, including Xtandi (enzalutamide).

Drs. Krogstad and Jung are the recipients of a UCLA Innovation Fund award, which provides up to $200,000, in addition to advisory and project management support, to further the development of their small molecule antiviral compounds.
