Abril Morales

Abril Morales is a 4th year PhD candidate in the molecular biology interdepartmental program. Her thesis work in Dr. William Lowry’s lab seeks to understand the mitochondrial and metabolomic disturbances of monogenic intellectual disability disorders using stem cell- derived models.  Prior to this, her other research experiences include investigating cell cycle regulated proteins using biochemical methods and antibiotic drug discovery from plant microbiomes.

Kan Yanazawa

Kan is a 2nd year Full-Time MBA Candidate at the UCLA Anderson School of Management (Class of 2021), where he specializes in Entrepreneurship.
Since the last spring, he has developed wholistic perspectives for the entrepreneurial environment by interning at a Silicon Valley-based accelerator, a Japanese biotech startup and Israeli venture capital firm. His responsibility included connecting dots between large corporates & startups, assistance of fundraising and deal sourcing.

Martin Perez

I am a current second-year graduate student at the UCLA Fielding School of Public Health earning my Master’s in Public Health - Healthcare Management (Class of 2021). Prior to attending UCLA, I graduated from Santa Clara University (SCU) where I majored in Public Health Science. After graduating from SCU, I worked as a consultant in the health IT sector, focusing on EHR integration and process improvement.

Pawan Mannava

Pawan is a New Venture Fellow and has been working with TDG since August 2020. He is currently a Full-Time MBA Candidate at the UCLA Anderson School of Management where he is specializing in Healthcare Management and Entrepreneurship. This past summer, Pawan interned as a Social Impact Ambassador at the Boston Consulting Group. He worked with a large hospital group identifying and implementing best practices for daily operations for during and post-COVID.

Miriam Baciotti Berbet

Grace Hancock

Grace is a fifth-year PhD student in the Molecular Biology Interdepartmental Program. Her thesis work focuses on human germ cell development, using embryonic stem cells and gene editing to understand the transcriptional program that contributes to healthy development and fertility. She has enjoyed learning about drug and product development during her time as a fellow at TDG, and holds interests in entrepreneurship, investing, and the biotech industry.
